December 27-29, Vienna.

I flew to Vienna from Tel Aviv, via Istanbul.

Vienna is a pretty place, especially around the holidays. One of the highlights was the Christmas market Jen and I stumbled into just outside the Schoenbrunn Palace. The featured image is of some pretzels there. Lots of Christmas lights and gluhwein. Other notable stops were Cafe Central, and the Belvedere Palace (and the Klimt exhibitions inside.) Our Airbnb host, Sara, said that 2 days in Vienna is enough to see everything- I think that’s about right. We also went to a concert at the Kursalon, where Johann Strauss played. Cool experience, although the program was a little disappointing.

I didn’t get my luggage from Tel Aviv until our second and last night in Vienna, which was kind of annoying. That’s also when i discovered my laptop was damaged.

I think I’ll eventually say a little about my experience and thoughts about leaving Israel at some point, mostly because of how much the experience affected me. Or I might not, I don’t know. It’s occurred to me that my tendency to want to think through and understand things may not only be futile in a sense, but also might be making me less happy and less hopeful, which isn’t great. Thinking about things like politics and ethics is pretty bad for my soul. Thinking about people and their stories is pretty good for my soul. So I’m going to try and steer my attention to the latter…

oh, and I also ate some sausage at the bus station in Vienna, which led to me not pooping normal for like 2 weeks. So that also happened.
