This is going to be out of order, but I need to document this while it’s fresh. It’s November 9, in Ravenna, Italy. That picture is of tagliolino con funghi porcini e tartufo bianco. Fresh pasta with porcini and white truffle. That stuff on top is white truffle. A lot of it. This is one of those special meals… Unexpected and brilliant. This wasn’t on the menu at osteria dei battibechi. There was just a chalkboard with specials. The bottom line was in all caps… “Tartufo.” Now I have no idea what that means. The waiter offhand mentions some specials… And some stuff with truffle. So I ask him what the best thing is, and then this shows up. With a glass of nebiollo. Perfect. The aroma hits my brain before plate hits table. So fucking good. Jamiroquai virtual insanity on in the background, servers are singing along. Feels good man…
